Description
x Ferobergia sp. x Coryphantha elaphantidensSN|21533]]SN|21533]] is a horticultural tri-generic hybrid between Ferocactus, Leuchtenbergia, and Coryphantha elaphantidens. This hybrid is variable, due to the intersection of characters deriving from the parents. The length of the tubercles and spines are the more variable of the trait and a variety of forms can be found.
Tubercles
More or less long (Generally shorter and larger than in Ferobergia), three-sided, often with a basal “chin”, rather than arranged along ribs. The areoles are at the tips of tubercles. Some of this hybrids produce drops of nectar from areolar glands like Ferocactus.
Flowers
Mostly Yellow.
Blooming Season
Blossoms intermittently from spring to fall.
Spines
Variable, mostly stouter, mostly hooked (similar to those of the Ferocactus), while other others have long, harmless, and papery spines (more similar to those of Leuchtenbergia.
