Habit
Solitary at first, later forming low clumps with few to several upright or sprawling, stems.
Flowers
Fire yellow, funnel-shaped, diurnal, originating in the apical zone and are about 6-9 cm long and broad. Pericarpel and floral tubes with dense scales bearing long brown hairs.
Blooming Season
Open in the day in the spring.

Stout, needle-like, spreading, straight or slightly curved, reddish brown, up to 6 (or more)cm long.

14-17 vertical, symmetrical, obtuse, low and rounded.
