Description
Gymnocalycium mucidumSN|17866]]SN|17859]] is a flattened solitary cactus that differs from the related Gymnocalycium glaucumSN|17859]]SN|17866]] by its smaller bodies and redder epidermis.
Flowers
Featuring with varies shade of pink-yellow, throat pink, 4–4.5 cm long, 4.5–5 cm in diameter.
Ribs
ca. 12, with sharp, chin shaped acute humps.
Stem
Simple, flattened globular, olive-green, reddish grey (rather variable in colour in cultivation, and in some specimens it is almost crimson), less than 4 cm tall (but often taller and less flattened in cultivation) and 8–10 cm broad.
Radial Spines
5–8, grey, needle shaped, somewhat bent, the lower is downward directed,the other sideward directed, 1–2 cm long
