Habit
It is a columnar cactus, forming clumps or cushions with densely arranged shoots sometime creeping.
Central Spines
3 to 4 (to 6) Yellowish to dark reddish turning whitish soon.
Flowers
Funnelform on the sides of the stems, 6-10 cm long, huge colourful bright orange-red, with long hairy tube and 9 green stigma lobes.
Ribs
7 to 16 low.
Stem
10-40 cm tall and 2,5 to 4 cm in diameter, upright cylindrical, yellowish-green to dark green.
Radial Spines
10 or more, short, the young spines are yellowish but turns whitish rapidly.
Areoles
Small 2-3 mm apart.
