Description
Eriosyce krausiiSN|2833]]SN|2833]] is a small geophytic plant that in habitat grows almost completely buried with only the top of the stem barely visible at ground level.
Roots
Conspicuous, long carrot-like, tapering, without necks.
Flowers
3-4 cm in diameter, growing in the stem apex on young areoles, yellow sometimes with a reddish central stripe. Pericarpell and floral tube covered with white wool and bristles.
Spines
Very fine, needle-like, straight or slightly curved, erectto radiating, reddish to grayish.
Ribs
12 to 14 arranged in spiral and divided in small tightly packed tubercles about 1,5 to 3 mm in diameter.
Stem
Small solitary or branching from beneath the ground, 2 to 4 cm in diameter, spherical somewhat flattened at the apex, red-brown to gray-green.
Radial Spines
3 to 8, 1 to 2 mm long.
Fruits
Elongate, thin walled, wind dispersed, dehiscing by basal pores.
