Description

Etymology: "Pseudo" means false, hence false Rhipsalis.

This genus is similar to Rhipsalis in that it is an epiphytic "jungle" species with small creamy-white flowers. However, the flowers are different in that the ovaries and perianth parts are connected and the fruits have scales. Additionally, this genus is restricted to Central America, with the exception of one species that extends into South America. This genus is very scarce in cultivation.Plants are sprawling in trees with long arching stems that begin round, but flatten out into straps. Areoles are tiny along the margin of the stem, typically in a notch. From these areoles, new stems or flowers are formed. Flowers are small, short tubes or cups - creamy white. Fruits are little berries which may be white or reddish.
