植株通常单生。茎窄圆柱形，高30 - 50厘米，直径达5厘米，腋部无毛，但开花区密被绒毛。茎体不含乳汁。
花
花不显著，黄绿色， barely rising above the spines（原文保留）。
刺
20-25根，金黄色，略具短柔毛，长达10毫米
